A brief on Softball this past weekend
The NM State softball team played on their home field in an exhibition against UTEP and UNM on Sunday. They met the Miners in the complex twice on the same day. All three games were played with respectful manners, and the score was not announced.
The Aggies have 15 returning players for this season, including two pitchers. One of the returners who led the NMSU softball campaign with her high number of hits, Kayla Bowen, earned the All-WAC honors last season. Jillian Taylor will also be returning for the Aggies, following Bowen in her number of hits and being on the All-WAC Second Team list.
NM State fans will see eight new faces in crimson uniforms this year. One of the three Freshmen, Jazmyn Waddle, reigns from Arizona with 101 innings pitched and 84 hitting appearances.
The sophomores pitching for a second season, Laurali Patane and Jordin King, had a combined 122 strikeouts. Last year, King started in over 24 games with 40 appearances and secured two stars in the WAC Tournament.
There are no games or exhibitions planned for the NMSU softball squad for right now. They will continue to play when dates and teams are released.
