EL PASO, TX— A shooting in El Paso earlier this week resulted in the death of three individuals and one injured in an alleged murder-suicide.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, at approximately 1:23 p.m., gunshots went off near an El Paso police station. Officers responded to the sound at 1000 block North Raynor Street in El Paso, Texas.
When police arrived, they found three victims: a 59-year-old injured male, 21-year-old deceased Mia Molina, and 27-year-old deceased Victoria Whitman.
Police reportedly discovered the suspect, 28-year-old Uriel Ontiveros, with an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound. They believe Ontiveros shot the three victims before turning the gun and shooting himself.
According to various reports, the 59-year-old victim remains hospitalized. No further details have been released.
Molina, a 2023 marketing graduate of New Mexico State University, was allegedly Ontiveros’ girlfriend. Molina was a former model and participant in Top Model USA and the founder of Cars and Canines, a philanthropy that provides resources for homeless dogs.
KFOX-TV interviewed Robert Chavez, director of El Paso Fashion Week, who knew Molina, said she was an active member of her community. She would host events and raise money for her philanthropy.
“She was a beautiful angel,” Chavez said. “Loving, caring, for her parents, for her family, for her sisters. And that’s how we want to remember Mia.”
According to the El Paso Times, the other victim, Whitman, was allegedly a bystander in the shooting. In an email to the El Paso Times, Whitman’s uncle, Marco Ruiz requested privacy during this time.
This is a developing story and The Round Up will provide updates as they become available.
