Midterms are here which means the stress is higher than ever

It is that time of the semester when tensions and stress run high in the life of a college students. Professors are packing in the work for the inevitable midterms. However, this should not get the hopeful college student down, because there is hope.

Organizations across campus are equipped and ready to help students get through midterms and in a few months’ finals as easily as possible. The STEM-H Student Support Services provides students with the ability to excel in academic endeavors.

Among their wide variety of educational development services such as prep for quizzes, exams, midterms, and finals, the organization also provides academic advising. The highly experienced students that work for the STEM-H Student Support Services host workshops on study skills, financial aid, and scholarships. If a mentor is what a student needs, the STEM-H also provided one on one mentors and academic coaching.

All services provided through the STEM- H are free to all students at NMSU how are eligible (must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, enrollment or acceptance for enrollment at NMSU, and have a current major in science, technology, engineering, math, or health sciences). Also, applicants must also provide one or more of the following requirements; Be considered low income, Parents or guardians did not graduate from a college or university, and Have a disability.

According to the STEM-H Student Support Services website, “The STEM-H Student Support Services program offers valuable services at no cost to low income, first generation, and/or students with disabilities majoring in science, technology, engineering, math, and health science fields. We offer tutoring, mentoring, academic advising, and information on scholarships, financial aid, financial literacy and many other services designed to help our students succeed.”

Students can apply online to be a part of this program at stemh.nmsu.edu. Once the application is completed, students can drop it off in the Engineering Complex I, Rm. 113.
