Matthew Salzano is a freshman at NMSU, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications, and a first-year staff writer at The Round Up.

Salzano was born in Staten Island, New York, and graduated in 2018 from Highland High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Over his high school career, Matthew participated in Student Council, DECA, and Student Publications. Additionally, he played football and baseball, along with cheerleading. Matthew found his passion for journalism as an editor/reporter/anchor for the Highland High News.

As a new student at New Mexico State University and a new staff writer at The Round Up, Matthew is looking forward to what this year has in store.
