The New Mexico State University women’s basketball team mounted a late third-quarter comeback but could not overcome a strong start by CUSA leader Louisiana Tech, falling 77-58 on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Pan American Center.
The Aggies jumped to an early four-point lead, but Louisiana Tech responded quickly, regaining control with defensive pressure and efficient ball movement. The Aggies struggled against the Lady Techsters’ strong defense, and were whistled for three shot-clock violations in the first quarter alone.

Louisiana Tech pulled away in the second quarter, fueled by five 3-pointers, and carried their momentum into the third quarter. The Lady Techsters’ outside shooting and rebounding dominance proved difficult for the Aggies to counter.
New Mexico State found some life late in the third quarter, putting together a 9-0 run to cut into the deficit and energize the bench. However, the momentum was short-lived as Louisiana Tech regained control early in the fourth quarter, knocking down even more timely 3-pointers and capitalizing on defensive stops and fouls.

Imani Warren led the Aggies with 17 points, while Anna Cseyni added 13 points off the bench.
For Louisiana Tech, Alexia Weaver scored a game-high 20 points, including five 3-pointers. Paris Bradley and Kaleigh Thompson each grabbed seven rebounds, anchoring a defensive effort that limited New Mexico State’s second-chance opportunities.
New Mexico State will travel to face Delaware and Liberty, then will return to the Pan American Center on Feb. 21 to face UTEP in the final Battle of I-10 as a conference matchup, as UTEP will be moving to the Mountain West conference.
