Here’s what you need to know today according to the New Mexico Department of Health, the Office of Michelle Lujan Grisham and NMSU officials. 

Around New Mexico

  • The first death related to COVID-19 was announced by NM DOH Wednesday. A male from Eddy County in his late 70s died Sunday. He had underlying health conditions 
  • Cases have risen to 112 according to today’s report. Total tests administered are at 7,793. 
  • The cases are located in Bernalillo County (48), Dona Ana County (13), Cibola County (1), Curry County (1), Eddy County (1), Lea County (1), McKinley County (3), Rio Arriba County (2), Sandoval County (8), San Juan County (8), San Miguel County (1), Santa Fe County (17), Socorro County (2), Taos County (3), Chaves County (3). 

Around NMSU

  • An NMSU emergency notification was released Wednesday by NMSU.
  • “A global pandemic is taking place, and NMSU wants you to be safe,” The notification reads. “Stay home whenever possible, and follow state and federal guidelines. Do not travel out of state, and limit any in-state travel to only what is essential. If sick, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.”
  • NMSU is set to have a town hall Thursday, March 26 at 3 p.m. to clarify COVID-19 updates regarding the university.
