NMSU Black Programs to host candlelight vigil
NMSU Black programs will be hosting a candlelight vigil June 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the downtown Las Cruces Plaza.
The event will serve to honor those who have lost their lives at the hands of police brutality as well as stand against racism and social injustice.
Christopher Brooks, president of the NMSU Black Student Association, took to instagram to encourage all to attend.
“Enjoy the music, enjoy the spoken word, enjoy the artistic expression, all of the things that are going to happen tonight as we come together in solidarity,” Brooks said.
The event will also feature a table for those interested in registering to vote.
“Invite your friends, family– it’s inclusive, it’s going to be diverse, and its gonna be truly an example of black excellence,” Brooks said.
