The spring semester is beginning to wind down, and students at New Mexico State University may be trying to give one last push to the finish line and maintain their grades before the semester ends. The Associated Students of New Mexico State University planned a week full of events for the annual Spring Fling. This event was created in the hopes of encouraging students and leading them in the right direction to get back in the groove of academia.

Spring Fling 2018, set for the week of April 16 to April 20, is a chance for students at NMSU to have fun, yet also raise their motivation to finish off the school year strong. The events held over the week included activities such as minute-to-win-it games, a movie night, a splash and dash day, and a water pong tournament, along with free food and t-shirts for students.

One of the main attractions for Spring Fling is a concert that will be held at Corbett outdoor stage, and different musicians will be performing.

“My main goal for Spring Fling is to give the students a week full of fun events that help to take the stress away of finals approaching and bring the NMSU community together to enjoy events” said ASNMSU director of activities Courtney Beck.

Not only are students motivated to succeed academically, but they are also motivated to go out and grow closer to their fellow Aggies with events like Spring Fling. Many students may struggle with finding their niche while in college, and away from home. With events like Spring Fling, students have the opportunity to meet new people, and bond over the stresses many college student deal with, by de-stressing with fun activities. 

Freshman Marisol Gonzales said “In events like Spring Fling, students come as a whole and friendships are formed”. Students like Gonzales believe that Spring Fling will overall be an enjoyable and encouraging week.

Beck, along with the ASNMSU social media and PR team, worked for countless hours on the promotion of the event, and reaching out to students to get their input on what kind of artist would be the best fit for this year’s Spring Fling. She and the rest of the ASNMSU team believe the concert will be a huge success among students.

This year’s Spring Fling concert will have musical guests Snakehips and Party Favor, and will be hosted at the Corbett Center outdoor stage from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm on April 20, 2018. The concert will close out the Spring Fling week.
