NMSU announces Provost candidate pool

The President’s office at New Mexico State University released the names of Provost candidates Friday morning. April C. Mason has served as the interim provost since Nov. 1.

Victor Prybutok, Carol Parker, John Griffin and John Paul “JP” Jones were announced as the final four candidates.

All four finalists hail from outside of the NMSU community; originating from University of North Texas, University of Texas at El Paso, Clemson University and University of Arizona.

Prybutok currently serves as the vice provost for Graduate Education, dean of the Toulouse Graduate School and a Regents Professor at UNT.

Parker serves as the vice president of Academic Affairs at UTEP.

Griffin currently holds the position of associate provost, dean of undergraduate studies and professor of biology at Clemson.

Jones currently serves UA as the dean of the college of social and behavioral sciences.

The candidates will be on campus April 29, April 30, May 2, and May 13, according to the office of the president. The candidates will each have the opportunity to present at an Open Forum for all faculty, staff and students from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Corbett Center Auditorium.
