Luis Rios, Political Writer

Luis Rios is a senior entering his fourth year at The Round Up and his second year as Political Writer. As he works towards completing his major in Journalism and minor in English at New Mexico State University, Rios has a strong passion for storytelling and overall writing.

While working for The Round Up, Rios has had the privilege of writing and crafting multiple news story types such as investigative pieces, features, events, press conferences/political meetings, and his reviews for the Lifestyle section of The Round Up where he analyzes music, shows and video games. He also has articles published in the Sierra County Sun.

Rios loves spending his time reading– his favorite storytellers include Stephen King, Mary Shelley and Eiichiro Oda – or listening to music in genres such as hip-hop, metal and alternative. Rios is grateful and humbled by his experience in working with The Round Up and representing the Voice of NMSU. As he continues working, he hopes to continue improving his craft in news writing all while having fun doing it. For any articles that Rios writes now and in the future, you can follow him on Twitter @LuisMRios02
